Continuing a tradition of fostering civic understanding and honoring the next generation of American leaders, the Veterans of Foreign Wars announces the opening of the 2026–2027 Voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen scholarship competitions. Students are encouraged to consider Sandy Coor Post No. 1433 as their sponsoring Post when submitting their entries for this year’s program cycle.
In anticipation of the 250th birthday of the United States on July 4, 2026, I will personally complete flying a locally made American Flag at all 50 state capitols, following the completion at the Arizona state capitol on Saturday, October 25 at 10 a.m. (To this point, I have flown the flag in 48 states, with the 49th coming on September 29 at the Oregon state capitol.).
