At Sandy Coor VFW Post 1433 and VFW Auxiliary 1433, we are
committed to promoting patriotism, civic responsibility, youth engagement, and
community service through the Veterans of Foreign Wars Americanism Programs.
Our mission is to honor America’s veterans while
strengthening the values of citizenship, freedom, respect for the flag, and
service to community and country.
Our Americanism Programs
Voice of Democracy Scholarship Program
The Voice of Democracy program provides high school students
the opportunity to express their views on democracy and patriotism through
audio essays. This national scholarship competition encourages civic
understanding, leadership, and public speaking skills.
Patriot’s Pen Youth Essay Program
Patriot’s Pen encourages middle school students to examine
America’s history, values, and freedoms through written essays focused on
patriotism and citizenship.
Teacher of the Year Recognition
We proudly recognize local educators who demonstrate
exceptional commitment to teaching American history, civics, patriotism, and
citizenship education within our schools and community.
Scout and Youth Partnerships
Post 1433 supports local scouting and youth organizations
that promote leadership, service, citizenship, and respect for the American
flag and our nation’s veterans.
Programs and activities may include:
Flag Education and Patriotic Ceremonies
We promote proper respect and display of the United States
Flag through community education, patriotic observances, and ceremonial events
throughout the year.
Activities include:
Buddy Poppy Program
The VFW Buddy Poppy represents the sacrifices of America’s
veterans. Through annual distributions and community outreach, we raise
awareness and support programs benefiting veterans, military families, and
patriotic initiatives.
Memorial Day and Veterans Day Programs
Post 1433 and Auxiliary 1433 proudly organize and support
ceremonies honoring the service and sacrifice of America’s veterans.
These activities may include:
VFW Day of Service
As part of the VFW Day of Service initiative, our members
volunteer throughout the community in projects that strengthen neighborhoods,
support veterans, and promote civic pride through service.
Civic and Legislative Engagement
We encourage informed citizenship and support legislative
awareness regarding veteran issues, constitutional rights, and community
involvement through nonpartisan civic engagement and educational outreach.
